People.com: Iggy Azalea has had some confrontational run-ins with other recording artists, but when it comes to her upcoming duet with Britney Spears, she’s singing a different tune.
“She’s super nice,” Azalea, 24, told MTV on the red carpet at the iHeart Radio Awards on Sunday. “She came to my house and had lunch and I didn’t know what to expect, and we actually really got along. I’ve been texting her, annoying her with all my ideas for the video and she’s been a really good sport about it, so I’m really excited.”
Azalea called the upcoming release – which is due out May 5 – a true “powerhouse” duet, not just a track where she’s a featured singer.
“We go back and forth,” she said. “She has her verses I have my verse, but it’s not just me kind of popping in it.
Azalea also said that it was initially unclear whether the single would be released as part of her album or Spears’ upcoming release. In the end, Spears took it.
“I rewrote parts of it and it became my song, and I tried to make it all mine and keep it. Then she said, ‘No, no, I am going to take it, my album is ready,’ ” Azalea explained. “And so I swung it back her way because she’s Britney Spears, you have to do that. She gets whatever she wants.”
