Sydney Morning Herald: Rapper Iggy Azalea has defended herself after she was caught on camera appearing to try and ram a paparazzo with a shopping cart after taking issue with the man for following her around a California supermarket.
Video footage of the Fancy hitmaker clashing with the unidentified snapper was posted online earlier this week. The film features the hip-hop star and an assistant shouting at the male photographer in the store car park after he failed to heed their requests to leave them alone.
At one point, the paparazzo accuses Azalea of spitting on him, and when he questions if she is infected with the deadly AIDS or Ebola virus, she can be heard responding, “I hope you have Ebola, I hope you die, you’re a f—ing c—.”
She then loses her temper and appears to shove her cart at the man, only for her pal to pull the trolley away before it can make contact. As she storms back to her car, Azalea shouts, “Being a musician doesn’t give you the right to sneak into a supermarket and take photographs of somebody buying eggs. That’s not a public space, it’s private. You’re inside a store taking pictures of people. It’s not OK. It’s not cute. And next time, I will have people with me that will do something to remove you.”
Azalea has now taken to her Instagram page to explain her actions, insisting she only snapped after putting up with the same guy’s rude behaviour the whole day.
She writes, “Something is only ‘the way it is’ for as long as one ALLOWS it to be. What I’m comfortable consenting a paparazzi do doesn’t require anyone’s opinion but my own. I don’t see why that’s hard for some to fathom. Judge me for spazzing if you like but you only saw the 30sec aftermath which was classy in comparison to what he said to us inside the grocery store where we discovered him lying on the floor after we had repeatedly & politely asked him to leave multiple locations during the course of the day. I don’t hate paps, just the really aggressive ones… I only treated him the way he treated me all day. Fair is fair playboys and girls. peace out.”
