Iggy Azalea’s “The Great Escape Tour” gets canceled

Iggy Azalea's The Great Escape Tour canceled

Iggy Azalea and her management have officially canceled “The Great Escape Tour”, slated for a fall kick off. The tour, which was postponed from Summer this year to Fall will no longer have a set-go.

Iggy’s reps haven’t made a press release about the issue. The news of the canceling comes through fans who bought tickets in advanced. These fans were emailed about the possibilities of a refund following the information that the tour is officially scrapped.

According to reps from Iggy Azalea: “There will be a new tour planned around Iggy’s new record to be released in 2016.”

The cancellation now seems to be back up early rumors of low-ticket sales. Previously, the first postponement of the tour was attributed to problems with the “production.”

Iggy Azalea “The Great Escape Tour” gets postponed to Fall

Iggy Azalea Tour gets postponed

Iggy Azalea’s “The Great Escape Tour” is taking a detour. The Grammy-nominated Australian rapper was scheduled to embark on her North American arena concert trek this spring, including an April 23 date at San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center.

Now, she has postponed the entire tour until fall. The reorganized itinerary comes with a bonus for her San Diego fans: Azalea’s tour will now kick off here Sept. 18 at Valley View Casino Center. (All of the new dates appear below.)

Tickets for her April Valley View show and other dates on the tour, except Baltimore, Las Vegas and Sacramento, will be valid for the new dates in the fall. The Baltimore, Las Vegas and Sacramento shows have been canceled altogether. Tickets for all dates can be refunded a point of purchase.

The decision to postpone the tour appears to be sudden. As of this writing, Azalea’s website still lists all of her previously announced spring concert dates, as does the axs.com web site, which is still selling tickets for her April 23 show here at Valley View Casino Center.

A press release issued Tuesday morning by AEG Live, the tour’s promoter, cited production concerns as the reason the tour has been postponed.

It reads: “Tour dates for Grammy-nominated Iggy Azalea’s The Great Escape Tour, have been rescheduled due to tour production delays. To accommodate for creative team availability and tour production plans, it was determined that the tour will not be ready this Spring. It is extremely important to Iggy that she delivers the show she envisaged to share with her fans and that requires more time in development. Instead, The Great Escape Tour will take place beginning Friday, September 18 in San Diego, CA.”

The press release also indicates that the opening acts for the spring tour, Nick Jonas and Tinashé, will be replaced.

It is unclear if advance ticket sales for the spring tour were not meeting expectations. Azalea recently quit both her Twitter and Instagram sites, citing a flood of hostile comments as the reason. In an age where social media plays an increasingly key role in promoting an artist’s career, her decision to back off social media could be negatively impacting promotion for her tour.

On the other hand, since she announced that her management would be running her Instagram account for her “until further notice,” it’s difficult to accurately gauge the role of social media as a factor in her tour postponement.

The new rescheduled dates will go as follows:
Friday, Sept. 18 San Diego, CA Valley View Casino Center

Sunday, Sept. 20 Fresno, CA SaveMart Center

Thursday, Sept. 24 Oakland, CA The Oracle Arena

Friday, Sept. 25 Los Angeles, CA STAPLES Center

Tuesday, Sept. 29 Denver, CO Pepsi Center

Thursday, Oct. 1 Minneapolis, MN Target Center

Friday, Oct. 2 Rosemont, IL Allstate Arena

Saturday, Oct. 3 Auburn Hills, MI The Palace of Auburn Hills

Monday, Oct. 5 Washington, DC Verizon Center

Tuesday, Oct. 6 Boston, MA TD Garden

Thursday, Oct. 8 Toronto, ON Air Canada Centre

Saturday, Oct. 10 Philadelphia, PA Wells Fargo Center

Sunday, Oct.11 Brooklyn, NY Barclays Center

Monday, Oct. 12 Newark, NJ Prudential Center

Thursday, Oct. 15 Atlanta, GA Philips Arena

Saturday, Oct. 17 Miami, FL American Airlines Arena

Sunday, Oct. 18 Orlando, FL Amway Center

Thursday, Oct. 22 Houston, TX Toyota Center

Friday, Oct. 23 Austin, TX Frank Erwin Center

Sunday, Oct. 25 Dallas, TX American Airlines Center

Iggy Azalea’s tour could be canceled as she allegedly refuses to promote

Iggy Azalea The Great Escape Tour

The Wrap is exclusively reporting that Iggy Azalea’s upcoming tour, “The Great Escape Tour”, is in jeopardy of being scrapped as Azalea has become increasingly unresponsive to her management and is refusing to engage in promotion.

The USA Today also reported that Azalea recently fleeing from social media could have a significant negative impact over her brand, and as her social accounts have been passed on to her management, the Australian rapper has become disengaged with her own team.

R&B singer Tinashe, scheduled to be the opening act for Iggy along with former Jonas Brothers band member Nick Jonas, is also rumored to have left the tour.

Reps for Iggy Azalea, Tinashe and AEG Live (the tour promoter) have refused to speak on the matter with the multiple media outlets that had reached out to them.

“The Great Escape Tour” is expected to kick off in about a month (April 14th) in Fresno, California. And as of right now, it has dates scheduled in 23 cities in The United States and one in Toronto, Canada.
