Iggy Azalea is Billboard 2014 Top New Artist
Not yet sure if Iggy Azalea was one of the top 2014 artists? Billboard shows yet again that 2014 was surely her year. In their annual year-end charts, Iggy Azalea has topped several ones (including Top New Artist, Best Rap Song, Rap Artist) while listing in many others (Artist of The Year, Pop Songs, etc.).
As probably one of the best honors she may have gotten in the year-end charts, Iggy has been named Billboard’s Top New Artist of The Year followed by Sam Smith, placed #2, 5 Seconds of Summer, Meghan Trainor and Bastille listing #3-#5, respectively. In the overall Artist of The Year chart, which also includes veterans, Azalea appears at #6, bestowed by One Direction, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake (#1-#5), and followed by Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams and Eminem (#7-#10).
Moreover, The Hot 100 Songs of The Year has four entries by her: “Fancy” comes in at #3 (with Pharrell’s Happy at #1 followed by Katy Perry’s Dark Horse), her appearance at Ariana Grande’s “Problem” comes in at #9, “Black Widow” charts at #26 and her featuring on T.I.’s “No Mediocre” comes in at #88. The Hot Digital Songs chart, a component of the Hot 100 Songs chart, has Iggy Azalea at #3 with “Fancy”, as the third best-selling song of the year, right behind Katy Perry’s Dark Horse and Pharrel Williams “Happy”.
Azalea was also a Top 5 in the “Female Artists of The Year” and The Hot 100 Songs Artist, she appears at #4 in the first, with Taylor Swift (#1), Beyonce (#2) and Katy Perry (#3) ahead of her and she comes in at #3 in the latter right after Pharrell (#2) and Katy Perry (#1).
She scored big at the rap charts as well, appearing at #1 on Rap Artists of The Year with “Fancy” being listed at the top of the Rap Songs of The Year. In The Rap Albums chart, “The New Classic” shows up at #3 (with Eminem at #1 and Drake scoring #2), The album also appears at #42 on The Billboard 200 Albums, which lists albums of all genres.
The rapper made some appearances on The Pop lists too: “Problem”, “Black Widow” and “Fancy” chart #10, #17, #18, respectively on The Pop Songs of The Year chart, and Iggy is #3 on The Pop Artists of The Year chart, bested by Taylor Swift (#1) and OneRepublic (#2).
“Black Widow” ends the year at #21 on the Best Dance/Club Song of The Year, with “Fancy” several positions lower at #42. This chart comprises songs that are played at nightclubs worldwide; the positions refer to how much the song was played, meaning Black Widow was the 21st most played song at nightclubs in the world during this year with “Fancy” being the 42nd. Iggy Azalea herself lists at #11 on Dance/Club Artists of The Year, the list was topped by Katy Perry.
Indeed an year of huge success for Iggy Azalea and her songs and album. Let’s hope that 2015 brings in more Iggy Iggs to us all 🙂 You can follow this link to see the complete Billboard Year-End 2014 charts: http://www.billboard.com/charts/2014/year-end.
